JumpOffCampus solves the off campus housing issue faced by every student in the US. We’re primarily an online resource for University students meant to facilitate their search for off-campus housing but also offer value to Landlords and Universities.
History
JumpOffCampus was born at Tufts University, where Mark and Kyle attended school. Having just gone through the process of finding off-campus housing, they were frustrated by the lack of resources offered to students as well as the fragmented market. There simply wasn’t one place to effectively conduct their apartment search.
Mark and Cal created a business plan to develop and monetize such a resource and with that, placed 3rd in the Tufts Business Plan Competition in the Spring of 2010. Kyle, Lindsay, Chris, Sarah, and Dane developed a map-based interface where students could share and talk about places they lived in the Fall of 2010.
Finally, Mark, Cal, and Kyle decided to partner in February of 2011 and blended both projects together to form the modern day JumpOffCampus company. Since then, the company was a finalist in the Mass Challenge Business Plan Competition and made its first sale in September of 2011. They haven’t looked back since!
